To James Tatem--each of the cellars I gave to my negros Siller & John upon their death provided James Tatem shall accept the house & lot upon paying the sum of $2,000
I desire all my household & kitchen furniture not before given away & the money arising from such sale be divided in following manner

To Sarah Jane Barclay, Susan Ballard Barclay, Robert Charles Barclay, Solomon Tatem Barclay and Robt Barclay executor of the will of Sarah Wright Tatem Whittaker dec'd of the Town of Portsmouth, Norfolk County and State of Virginia dated the twenty fourth day of June eighteen hundred and thirty seven, this is to certify to you and all whom it may concern that I, James Tatem the person named in the last will and testament of the above Sarah Wright Tatem Whittaker dec'd, will not accept of the house and lot mentioned in the will of the aforesaid Sarah Wright Tatem Whittaker upon the terms therein named to it by paying unto you the first four persons named the sum of two thousand dollars and I give up all claim to the above mentioned house and lot that I might claim by virtue of the above named will and testament of the late Sarah Wright Tatem Whitaker directly or indirectly . In witness, I have hereunto set my hand and seal in Norfolk county 20th August eighteen hundred and thirty eight.
