In the name of God, Amen. I, Meta E. Wigg, of the City of Norfolk, Virginia, do make this my last will and testament, as follows:
1. First, I desire that my body may be decently buried; and I direct my executor hereafter named to spend the sum of four hundred dollars for that purose; in addition to the expenditure of four hundred dollars for my burial I direct my executor out of my estate to have placed over my grave a marble pillow, and a gray marble coping around the grave.
2. Secondly: I hae on deposit with the Mary F. Ballentine Home, in the City of Norfolk, Virginia, the sum of two hundred dollars, and I also have money on deposit with the Bank of Tidewater, Incorporated, of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. These monies I direct my executor to use to pay for my funeral expenses, marble pillow and gray marble coping above mentioned.
3. Thirdly, my brother in law, Norman Cassell, is indebted to me in the sum of three hundred dollars, evidenced by his note, said note and the money it represents subject to the provision below, I give and bequeath to said Norman Cassell, as a token of my gratitude of his numerous kindnesses and favors to me. However, should the money mentioned in the paragraph 2, Secondly; above, be not sufficient to pay for my burial, marble pillow, and copying, I then direct my executor to collect from Norman Cassell, a sufficient amount on said money and apply the same to pay for my burial, marble pillow and marble coping.
4. Fourthly: All the rest and residue of my estate, real, personal and mixed, I give, devise and bequeath to my nieces Chandler Darden, wife of Walter Darden, Dorette Kirby, wife of James L. Kirby. Virginia Jungbeck, wife of Maurice Jungbeck. Emma Stevens Martin Hudgins, wife of Bilisoly Hudgins. Virginia Stevens Wilcox, wife of Charles Sharp Willcox, and to my nephews, W. H. W. Cassell, Sam Patterson Wigg, and Edward W. Martin, share and share alike.
5. Fifthly; I appoint my brother in law, Norman Cassell, Executor of this will and desire that no security shall be required of him as such.
Witness my hand which I have set to this my will, wholly in my own handwriting, this seventeenth day of May, A.D. Nineteen hundred and twenty nine.

PROBATE OF THE WILL OF META E. WIGG, DECEASED:
A paper writing purporting to be the true last will and testament of Meta E. Wigg, deceased, late of the City of Norfolk, who departed this life on the 22nd day of February 1939, was this day produced in the Clerk's Office and offered for probate. And thereupon came J. Bilisoly Hudgins and Walter Darden, who having been first duly sworn, severally testified that they were well acquainted with the handwriting of the said testatrix, and that they verily believe that the said paper writing, and the name thereto subscribed, to have been written wholly in the handwriting of the said Meta E. Wigg, deceased. Whereupon, it is considered by the Clerk that the said will has been duly and fully proved, and the same is ordered to be admitted to probate and recorded as the true last will and testament of Meta E. Wigg, deceased, in due form.
And thereupon on motion of Norman Cassell, the Executor named in the said will, who took and subscribed the several oaths prescribed by law, and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of fourteen hundred dollars, without surety, the will providing that none be required of him as such, conditioned according to law, a certificate is granted the said Norman Cassell for obtaining letters of probate and administration upon the estate of the said Meta E. Wigg, deceased, in due form.
And it is ordered that the said bond be recorded.

Death--Mrs. Charles Stevens Cassell, wife of Norman Cassell, and daughter of the late William Hazzard, and Mrs. Emma Stevens Wigg, died in her home at 108 London Street at 10:45 o'clock last night.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, William Hazzard Wigg Cassell, of Portsmouth; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Sharp Wilcox, of Norfolk, and one sister, Miss meta Wigg, of Portsmouth.
She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal church.
The funeral will be held from the hour to be announced later. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Virginia Stevens Cassell, wife of Norman Cassell, who died Tuesday night in the residence, 108 London Street, was buried yesterday afternoon in Cedar Grove cemetery. Funeral service was conducted in the residence at 3 o'clock, Rev. Charles H. Holmead, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. The service was largely attended.
The pallbearers were as follows: John C. Niemeyer, R. E. Crump, F. L. Crocker, H. F. Butt, R. S. Marshall, J. Davis Reed, T. W. Mathews and John C. Emmerson.
There was a profusion of floral tokens of respect and esteem.
