This Deed made the 20th day of May 1867 between William C. Sawyer and Serena Catherine his wife of the one part and Solomon T. Barclay and Robert B. Riell Jr. of the other part--Witnesseth: that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars (two-thirds of which amount $500--is paid by said Barclay and the other third by said Riell Jr.) to them the said Sawyer and wife, paid by the said Barclay and Riell Jr. the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged they the said William C. Sawyer and wife Serena Catherine do grant unto the said Solomon T. Barclay and Robert B. Riell Jr. their heirs and assigns forever with general warranty all their interest which is one fourth part in a lot of land lying on Crawford Street Portsmouth, Va. with all the buildings and improvements belonging thereto being a part of lot No. 32 in a plan of said City of Portsmouth and adjoining the land of John Days' heirs and fronting on said Crawford street thirty four feet and seven inches (agreeable to deeds made from Day to Barclay in the years 1801 and 1832) running back one hundred and eighty feet and of the same width on the back as on the front, the said property being valued at two thousand dollars for the purpose of making a division, the said William C. Sawyer's wife Serena Catherine formerly Serena Catherine Riell owning one fourth part, and said Solomon T. Barclay owning one half and said Robert B. Riell Jr. the other fourth part and which all of them the said Serena C. said Barclay and said Riell jr. inherited from the estate of Robert C. Barclay dec'd in the above named proportions. This Deed made the 1st day of May A. D. 1869 between Robert Barclay Reill, Wm. C. Sawyer and Serena Catharine his wife of the first part, and Hazlett Carlisle of the second part: Witnesseth: that the said Robert B. Barclay Riell, Wm. C. Sawyer and Serena Cathainre his wife, in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do grant with general warranty unto the said Hazlett Carlisle the following property to wit: that certain house and lot in the City of Portsmouth, in the State of Virginia situate on the South East corner of King and Dinwiddie Streets, fronting on King Street fifty-five feet, six inches, and on Dinwiddie Street, eighty-four feet, it being the same that Sarah Jane wife of Robert B. Riell deceased, died seized and possessed.

This Deed made this 1st day of May A. D. eighteen hundred and sixty-nine between Robert B. Riell of the City of Washington in the District of Columbia, and William C. Sawyer and Serena Catharine his wife of the City of Portsmouth in the State of Virginia of the first part, and Thomas A. Bain of the City of Portsmouth in the State of Virginia of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Robert B. Riell, and William C. Sawyer and Serena Catharine his wife in consideration of the sum of eighteen hundred dollars, the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged, do and each of them Doth grant with general warranty unto the said Thomas A. This Deed made the 18th day of January 1870, between Wm. C. Sawyer and Serena C. his wife of the first part and Godwin & Crocker of the second part, witnesseth, that the said W. C. Sawyer and Serena C. his wife, in considertation of the sum of twenty five dollars, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, do grant with general warranty unto the said Godwin & Crocker all their right, title and interest in and to that certain piece of land situate at the north east intersection of Lincoln and Water streets in Gosport, known as lots no. 18 & no. 19, in plan of Gosport, which was assigned to Selina Dickson, widow of John Dickson, now Selena Barclay as will appear by report of the Commissioners in the suit of Dickson vs Dickson Norfolk Court 17th June 1833--the said interest of the said parties of the first part being one fourth of the one sixth interest in the said lots that was conveyed to Robert C. Barclay by the deed of Geo. W. Dickson dated the 6th August 1847, and of record in the Clerk's Office of Norfolk County Court, and of which Robt. C. Barclay died intestate and which descended from him to Solomon T. Barclay his brother and Robert B. Reill and Serena C. Sawyer children of Sarah Jane Reill, their mother, who was a sister of Robert C. Barclay.

Death of Capt. W. E. Sawyer
He Was a Well-known Caterer--Death Due to Hemorrhage.
Capt. William C. Sawyer, a well-known resident, died suddenly at 6:50 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 202 King Street. Death was due to hemorrhage of the lungs.
Captain Sawyer was 53 years of age. He was a native of Columbia, S.C., but had lived in Portsmouth for about 40 years, and at the time of his death had a bar and restaurant at King and Middle streets. He had been engaged in the restaurant business for a number of years and was known throughout the section as a successful caterer. He leaves a widow but no children.
The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon from the residence.

Funeral of Captain Sawyer
The funeral of Capt. W. C. Sawyer took place yesterday afternoon from his late residence, 202 King street. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Rawlings, after which the remains were interred in Oak Grove cemetery.
